Welcome to My Blog
Hello and welcome. I started this blog for a couple of reasons. First, I'm hoping this will be good therapy for me. As anyone with a child diagnosed with this disease knows, it's a crushing blow to find out that your child has diabetes. My daughter was diagnosed about 5 years ago. Secondly, it always seems to me that there is a lot of focus on type 2 diabetes. I wanted a spot that focused more on juvinile diabetes. So, with this said, I hope you find this as a place where you can get a little support, and maybe learn something to make your child's and your life a little better. I'm new at this blog thing so don't be surprised if this site is not the best one you've ever seen. I'm learning...

Food Tips
- What do you do for halloween? In our house we have a candy for prize exchange. Basically we trick or treat like everyone else, pick out a few goodies to keep and then my daughter trades in candy for a trip to store to pick out a toy or some other prize. It helps her enjoy Halloween as much as the other kids and at the same time prevents her from expecting to eat too much candy. We've done this for about 4 years now and it works great!!
School Tips
- Get to know your children's school nurse and teachers. You may be surprised about misconceptions they may have. Your child's school nurse can be a blessing.
